Hot-shooting Raiders too much for Pioneers
Roane State defeated Vol State 81-68 Monday night. Vol State, shooting 11-35 in the first half, struggled all night to catch up with the hot-shooting Raiders. With less than three minutes left in the game, the Pioneers pulled within 3 points (68-71). But, with Vol State forced to foul, Roane clinched the victory by making 8 of 9 free throws. Roane (9-4) is now third place in the conference and Vol State sits at seventh (5-13).
Peyton West led VSCC with 17 pts, Terrance Cross 16 pts and Brennon Marsh 12 pts. Also scoring for the Pioneers were Davion Moses 4 pts, Isaiah Perry 2 pts, Jaylan Clemmons 6 pts, Kaden Paul 2 pts and Kailon Benton-Hamilton 9 pts.
Vol State was 23-73 from the field (31%) but was 15-17 from the foul line. The Pioneers will play their last home game Wednesday, February 15 at 7:30 pm.
