Lady Pioneers Lose Final Home Game

By: Nick Kieser

GALLATIN, TENNESSEE — The Vol State Lady Pioneers had the annual Sophomore Night Saturday, February 16. Before the game against Dyersburg State, a ceremony was held where the sophomores on the team were awarded an action photograph of themselves and a photo together with the coaches.

Dyersburg and the Pioneers battled with the score seesawing between the conference teams. In the end, Dyersburg won 83-72 to spoil the sophomores last home game. The Pioneers had a nine-point lead in the first quarter 22-13 but could not contain a lead in the following quarters.

"That was a horrible lead to blow," said assistant coach Tony Thompson. No further comment was made on the game.

The Pioneers with the loss have one game remaining in the regular season. For the last game of the year, the team travels to Jackson State on Saturday.

Currently, the Pioneers sit in seventh place in the conference standings and would play Motlow State for the first playoff game if the season ended before the game this weekend.
