Lady Pioneers Fall Short at Gadsden

The Vol State Lady Pioneers went on the road on 11-1 for the first game of the regular season against Gadsden CC.  They would drop the contest 57-53.  With 13 freshmen and 1 sophomore, Coach Key knew that his team's inexperience would be a challenge.  "I thought they played well and at times you could see the freshmen mistakes, just due to playing at this level," Coach Key said.  "The main thing is that they continued to play through their mistakes and kept pushing each other."  The Lady Pioneers finished the game with 32 turnovers and missed 9 layups down the stretch.  "These are things that we will fix, and they will get better.  But, they have to go through these growing pains in order to do that."  Lady Pioneers return to action on Saturday, 11-5 against NE Mississippi.
